Coming Soon: October

Coming Soon: October

October reminds us of the fallen leaves, the first cold winds and the great showers, typical of this season. But it also reminds us of pumpkins and Halloween.

Imbued with this spirit, this Coming Soon will mostly feature horror and supernatural series, with special attention to the master Stephen King (creator of It). The only exception to this is the series that brought British actor Hugh Laurie back to the television screens.

The 1980s are back! If you missed the rural town of Hawkins, Indiana, it's time to return, thanks to the second season of this cult series. While the first one led us to investigate Will's disappearance, the second one shows the consequences/impact of the wave of events of the previous year.

Normality is a common wish of all who live in Hawkins, especially in Will's family. Will's mother forces herself to have a relationship with a former schoolmate to give a sense of stability to the child who is suffering from post-traumatic stress. The sheriff tries to cover up any proof of what happened, so that Joyce and Will can be rested ...

However, the lab continues to work. The experiments, it seems, continue and this demonstrates that the concept of normality in this series is something very subjective...

Basically... You shouldn’t miss this Netflix original!

You could say that Stephen King has had some misfortune with the adaptations of his works. You can count the ones that stand out for their quality on the fingers of one hand.

1922 is one of the highlights, thanks in large part to the actors' interpretations, especially Thomas Jane, a kind of redemption for the role he played for Dreamcatcher, perhaps... Another factor that adds to the quality of this adaptation is that it is a one-off film.  No-one has any intentions of making a sequel or a series, as we have seen in other attempts at adaptation.

This allows us to explore to the full all the virtuosity of Stephen King’s telling suspense story and to see the choices each person takes; guilt and remorse can  rule their life.

Lore is Amazon's big offering for this last quarter of the year. Based on a podcast created by Aaron Mahnke, and very successful online, this series will explore the origin of most of the urban myths that we all know very well.

In six episodes, the series will recreate stories based on facts and real people linked to American folklore. Cases such as people possessed by demons, dolls that come alive, or bizarre medical experiments will be explored as a horror story.

If you are looking for a new horror experience, this is a must have option in the coming weeks…

Pet Sematary is a 1989 classic film based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. Directed by Mary Lambert, the film tells us the story of a family moving to Maine and buying a house near an abandoned animal graveyard.

The death of the cat and its surprising return is the catalyst for a family crisis that will shake up and involve an entire city. Something that is very explicit in the tagline of the movie: “A pet isn’t just for life”.

The reception of this film at the time it was released in theatres in 1989 was poor. However, over the years it has acquired a certain cult status among Stephen King fans and the horror genre. A fact that makes this transmission rather appealing, for those who missed the opportunity to get to know this gem.

Chance is a must-have series for fans of Hugh Laurie (House, MD). Here the British actor also plays the character of a doctor, but there the similarity ends.

Dr. Eldon Chance, a forensic neuropsychiatrist, is unlike House, not arrogant, not a genius, nor a sociopath. Chance has a family, really cares about others, is a victim of other characters' moves and does not say what he thinks.

This original Hulu series will now debut its second season and promises to take the taste for the noir style to even greater heights.

What is teen, episodic, full of celebrities from social media and a horror series at the same time? Yes, you’re right, it’s Freakish. No, really, it's the actual name of the show...

This series, created by Hulu last year, will now debut its second season. The storyline acquaints us with a group of high school students who are trapped in the school grounds when a chemical factory explodes and infects several students, making them into mutated freaks.

The use of various shooting techniques, such as from the point of view of the character, in the best style of first-person shooter games, is emphasized because it increases the stress and distress of the escape.
